Entry # 1 Blog Edition: The haves and the have nots (Blogs I like and dislike)
Blogsite I liked- Fifteenth Annual Weblog Awards
Out of all the blogs, the blog that stood out to me was the blog webpage of all the award winning blogs (Fifteenth Annual Weblog Awards). All the qualities of this blog was so efficient. Furthermore, the webpage is user friendly providing easy access to award winning blogs around the world. In addition, the web page of the all the blogs was creative because of the designs for each blog (see picture below).
Blog I liked- Dog Shaming
Within the Fifteenth Annual Weblog Awards, there lies a blog called "Dog Shaming". The author wants dog owners to post pictures with captions of what naughty shenanigans their pups are up to. This blog is simple but cute. To elaborate, the blog is formatted in a personal blog style because it is open to proud dog owners who lovingly shame their dog(s) and comment on other dog shaming posts. As the saying goes, "dogs are man's best friend" and that is true! Dog shaming has attracted my attention aswell as the audience of many other dog lovers. I like the tone of this blog because it is very lighthearted. The posts develop a negative into positive humor.
Blog site I dislike- Appartment Therapy
In this informative blog site, the main audience is individuals who want to enhance their living space with tips and stories. I appreciate the author's intentions in creating this blog site, but for me personally, this blog site is confusing. Moreover, the format contains many blogs available for the audience, but it is overwhelming because of ads and blogs on the screen (picture on the left).
Blog I disliked- 12 Movies to Stream If You're Not Into the Whole Football Thing
The author intends this blog for an audience who want to entertain but are not into football. This is great for people who are hosting a gathering, for they can utilize this blog as a resource. However, I disliked this blog because based on the other blogs on the site this blog does not fit under the category of improving living spaces, but I do like the movies that are listed in the blog. As a matter of fact, the author created this blog to be a personal blog because it is based off of the author's movie interests and it might not be helpful to someone with different tastes in movie genres. The tone starts as exciting but then runs off as bland. The author uses various phrases at the beginning of the paragraph to gravitate the reader's attention. For example, the phrase "the event still calls for ordering cheesy nachos and spicy wings" not only does the phrase create an image in the reader's mind of having a good time, but it makes the reader hungry. As the blog continues, the reader loses attention because all the author is doing is describing movies.
